Matt Maynard, LPC, NCC

If you have found yourself landing on this page and reading my bio it is likely that you are considering counseling as an option for you. You are wondering if I am the person to join you on this journey with you and if I am someone who may “get you.”

For decades, research has been conducted on various therapeutic techniques and their effectiveness in treatment. Though some techniques have proven to be more effective than others, there is overwhelming evidence to suggest that therapy is most helpful when you feel understood and supported by your therapist.

A little background on myself

I am a Type-2 (Enneagram style) which means I love to help others. I love to help others in some of their toughest times of life. Over the years my personal and professional experiences have helped shape me to the therapist I am today. One of my joys is getting the opportunity to help individuals with their faith. As an ordained minister I find that integratating spirituality into psychotherapy can be very effective, especially for those that hold to a faith. As a professional, I never push my faith on anyone, however, would strive to join you where you are.

My role as a therapist

I see my role as a professional as three-fold – a therapist, a teacher, and a coach. First, as a therapist, my role is validate and your experiences and feelings with the goal of helping you feel safe and understood. As a teacher I work to provide skills to help you feel better. And finally, as a coach I encourage you to practice and develop habits that will contribute to an overall sense of well-being.

As a client-centered therapist, I strive to create a safe space in the office for us to work. I attempt to foster this safe space through various elements:

having an open-mind, non-judgmental approach
tailoring therapy to your individual needs
collaborating and encouraging feedback
striving for your best interest over my own, even if it means referring you to a different therapist who might best fit your needs

I enjoy working with clients of all ages (6 & up) – including children, teens, and adults. I specialize in working with families and couples – whether its the joys of pre-marital counseling, the hard work of repairing a relationship after an affair, or if you just wish to have a stronger relationship with your partner.

Please feel free to schedule a free phone consultation today for you and I to get to know each other a little before we schedule our first meeting together.
